This was the collective reaction across the desk as eyes were glued to the video of a motorcycle, a formula one car, two sports cars, one battery-powered car, a commercial jet, and a fighter jet. Whaat?
In a video by autoevolution and posted by Global News, the reel shows a Kawasaki Ninja H2R superbike blasting across the runway, racing against an F-16 fighter jet, a Red Bull Formula One car, a Tesla Model S P100DL, a Lotus Evora GT430, and an all-new Aston Martin Vantage blasting off shortly after.
The race happened at the opening of the Teknofest Istanbul Aerospace and Technology Festival which was being held at the Istanbul International Airport.
The starting grid consisted of one of the fastest vehicles, or should we say, one of the fastest they could get their hands on, but fast nevertheless. On the starting line, the contenders include a Challenger 605 private jet, and an F-16 fighter jet from SoloTurk, the Turkish Air Force demonstration team standing on two separate runways.
On the adjoining third runway, there is a Kawasaki Ninja H2R ridden by former professional motorcycle racer Kenan Sofuoglu, a Red Bull Formula One car piloted by test driver Jake Dennis, a Tesla Model S P100DL driven by professional racecar driver Emma Kimilainen, a Lotus Evora GT430, and an Aston Martin Vantage.
As the race starts, the Model S can be seen shooting off the line behind the Ninja H2R and the Formula One car. As the race progresses, the fighter jet has finally come close to catching up with the Formula One car as the Ninja H2R shoots by like a bullet.
The finish line is crossed first by the H2R 9.43 seconds later, with the Formula One car swooshing past 0.04 seconds later, according to a report by the Daily Sabah. The third one to cross the line is the F-16 fighter jet.
